Our Bali Beads Caps collection - the dome- and cone-shaped caps that finish a Bali Beads focal piece at either end - splits into two real silhouettes, 12 dome designs and 5 cone designs, both carrying the same hand-applied granulation and filigree work as the main Bali Beads collection. If you're new to the range, here's what actually distinguishes the two shapes and how to choose between them.
Dome caps
A rounded, half-sphere silhouette that echoes the curve of the bead it's finishing - visually, a dome cap reads as a continuation of the bead's own shape rather than a distinct component, which gives a design a smoother, more unified line from bead to cap to chain. This is the larger of the two silhouettes in our collection (12 of the 17 designs), reflecting how often it's the natural pairing for a rounded focal bead.
Cone caps
A tapered, pointed silhouette that narrows sharply from the bead toward the chain - a cone cap reads as more deliberately architectural, adding a visible transition point rather than blending in. This creates more visual movement in a finished piece, particularly on a longer pendant drop where the taper draws the eye downward. Better suited to bolder, more statement-driven designs than a dome cap's quieter finish.
Choosing between them
- Want the cap to disappear into the design, letting the bead stay the clear focal point? Dome.
- Want the cap itself to read as part of the design's silhouette? Cone.
- Pairing with a rounder, more organic bead shape? Dome generally sits more naturally.
- Pairing with a more geometric or angular focal bead? Cone's sharper lines tend to match better.
Neither silhouette is a quality tier over the other - it's a styling choice, and both carry identical granulation and filigree craftsmanship.
