Minimum Order Quantities for Wholesale Silver Jewellery Components: What to Expect

Minimum Order Quantities for Wholesale Silver Jewellery Components: What to Expect

If you're new to buying jewellery components wholesale, minimum order quantity (MOQ) is usually the first practical question you hit - and the answer varies more between suppliers than almost anything else in the buying process.

Why MOQs exist at all

MOQs mostly come down to production and handling economics. A supplier casting or hand-finishing a specific bead design has setup costs - tooling, mould preparation, the silversmith's time to get a batch started - that only make sense to absorb across a minimum batch size. Packing, quality-checking, and shipping a very small order also costs roughly the same in labour as a larger one, so very low quantities are often disproportionately expensive to fulfil relative to their value.

That said, MOQ policy is a genuine point of difference between suppliers, and it's worth comparing directly rather than assuming every wholesale supplier works the same way.

Common MOQ models in the silver jewellery trade

  • Per-design minimums - a fixed minimum piece count for any single design (common, especially for cast or moulded designs with real setup cost).
  • Per-order value minimums - no minimum on any individual design, but a minimum total order value across your whole inquiry list.
  • No fixed MOQ - some suppliers, particularly for stock designs already in production, will fulfil smaller orders, often useful for buyers testing a new design or a new supplier relationship before scaling up.

We work on the third model - no fixed minimum order quantity on any design in our catalogue, so you can order the quantity that actually matches your needs, whether that's a small test batch of a new design or a full production run.

What to ask before your first order

  • Is the MOQ per design, or across my whole order?
  • Can I mix designs to reach a combined minimum, if one applies?
  • Is there a sample option before committing to the full minimum?
  • Does the MOQ change for repeat orders once a relationship is established?

How this works with us

Because we don't enforce a fixed MOQ, the practical process is simple: browse the full catalogue, add whatever mix of designs and quantities you need to your inquiry list - using the "Add to Inquiry" button on any product or category page - and send it to us directly via WhatsApp or email, no account or login required. We'll confirm exact pricing (against the day's silver rate), availability, and lead time once we see your list. If you'd rather just ask directly first, get in touch and we'll talk through what you're looking to order.
